A Booker prizewinner explains what makes classic short stories work so well

Incoming book recommendation from @Michael

Swim in the Pond in the Rain by George Saunders.

Michael’s mini review:

Saunders is a much lauded short story writer and he teaches a course in short story writing at Syracuse University. In the book, which is based on his class, he analyses a set of short stories by Russian writers – Chekov, Tolstoy, Turgenev and Gogol. A stimulating read about the creative process of storytelling and how to engage an audience.

I would recommend it highly to anyone with an interest in stories or literature.
